This
recording is dedicated to the memory of
my Grandfather, Chris Winkle and my longtime
friend, Mike Sutherland. Thank you God
for the gift of music. To Peggy, my soul
mate. The most exciting and wondrous moments
of my life have involved you. Without
your support, encouragement, and persistence
I probably never would have gained enough
confidence to undertake this project.
You believed in me long before I did.
Art and Ruth Wade. They let me know in
so many ways how supportive they are of
my efforts in life and music, and that
means the world to me. I am blessed to
have such wonderful parents. To my daughter
Lynn Ann and son Stephen who have given
me so much joy. Having the love and respect
of your children is beyond mere wealth;
it is truly priceless. Joe Millward for
his encouragement, enthusiasm for this
project and mostly for his incredible
talent. Joe brought my ideas to life and
made sense of what easily could have been
a study in chaos. Many thanks to the musicians
who recorded this album with me. Each
one of them is world class and it was
an honor to have them share their gifts
with me: Dan Balmer, Stan Bock, Dave Captien,
Renato Caranto, Carlton Jackson, Mike
Klobas, Paul Mazzio, Joe Millward, George
Mitchell, Luis Opazo, Peter Piazza, Dan
Schauffler, and Lee Wuthenow. Also, thanks
to Rick McNutt who pointed me in the right
direction and is one of the good guys
on the Portland music scene. Thanks to
Ron Steen for your role in keeping jazz
alive in Portland, passing the torch to
young performers, and lighting a fire
under old guys like me too. I also would
like to thank Dennis and the staff at
Oswego Lake for their ongoing support.
Dennis Carter and Sean Norton for their
talents and patience. The Pressure Point
Band, Loretta Stites, Barry Aiken, Matt
Sutherland, Steve Pruitt, and Jim McIntire
for their support and friendship. Tory
Miller my fitness guru. |
